ASHFIELD, MA – These days, hunger is an even more prevalent issue in our country. Never mind the after effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the price of living has skyrocketed even further this year and this hits the most vulnerable of our society the hardest.
Each November, NEPM host Monte Belmonte holds his annual march against hunger for The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. Today and tomorrow, he and his band of merry supporters push empty shopping carts 43 miles from Springfield to Greenfield to raise awareness about hunger in our region.
Over the years, I have donated to this very worthy cause. This year, I’m proud to be a part of Hannah Jarrell’s fundraising team. The Director of Artist/Community Engagement of Double Edge Theatre here in Ashfield is walking the walk again with her Cultivate Generosity team.
